Rinzin Dema- (BA Sociology and Political Science), 2012.

I thank all my teachers, friends, and staff at Royal Thimphu College for making my college days one of the best phases of my life.

Right after graduation, I didn’t do anything for two months or so: I wanted to enjoy my free time. Meanwhile, my friends were applying for jobs and internships. Only then did I think that I ought to get a job as well.

Now I work as the Program Officer at the Royal Textile Academy, a Non-Governmental Organization. I had always wanted to work in an NGO or an INGO. I think my first job is a step towards my dream job in an INGO.

My advice to the current students is to make use of the resources that are showered upon you while you are in college. Take every opportunity. Learn as much as you can because when you know more, more opportunities come your way. And when you get a job, you are expected to know how to do whatever it is that your boss asks you to do. Once you get your first salary, you are expected to know about taxes; even perhaps save for your retirement.

So my RTC friends, I wish each and every one of you all the best in whatever you do.
