The Royal Thimphu College and Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Health, Bhutan signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the launch of BSc Nursing programme on Monday, July 23, 2018. The MoU will focus on:

 

  • Establishing a new programme of BSc Nursing at RTC
  • Delivering the curriculum in accordance to the guidelines established by the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan and the Bhutan Medical and Health Council and adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the University
  • Supporting the Department of Medical Sciences through the establishment of the new programme of nursing to augment the health services in Bhutan
  • Seeking affiliation with KGUMSB for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Creating an enabling environment for the participation of the private sector in the provi
  • Designating Central Regional Referral Hospital in Gelephu as a teaching hospital for the use of RTC to conduct practical classes by its students
  • Use of DMS’ personnel including doctors, nurses, BHU staff and allies health workers in designated hospitals to teach the practical component of the curriculum

Leading the delegation from Department of Medical Services, the Director General Dr. Pandup Tshering represented the Ministry of Health and expressed his hope that with the signing of the MoU, there would be opportunities for the two institutions to collaborate further.
