Royal Thimphu College welcomed the 7thgroup of representatives from SEISA University in Japan this March. SEISA is one of the several educational institutes around the world with which RTC has an academic partnership. The partnership was established in 2010. Since then, selected students from RTC make a 2-week cultural visit to Japan every year. In return, RTC hosts a group from SEISA each year as well.
This year’s SEISA group included 12 students and 2 faculty/staff members from SEISA University. The group resided on-campus at the Executive Centre guesthouse and spent 3 days of their programme duration in the capital city. The group had the opportunity to talk with the President of RTC and also interact with RTC students, who provided a welcome cultural programme for them.
The programme, which was led by Dr. Miwako Hosada, the Vice President of SEISA University, and a staff member of SEISA, Ms. Kato Yamamoto, included short cultural visits to Paro Taktshang, and other historical places such as the Punakha Dzong, and Dochula, where they had a spectacular view of Bhutan’s pristine environment and untouched mountains. They also visited the Royal Textile Academy and interacted with the students of Jigme Losel Primary School and Draktsho. This exchange programme is one of the many efforts of RTC to provide international learning opportunities for its students.
