Four graduates of Royal Thimphu College are among the nineteen Bhutanese English language teachers in Thailand, where they started working from November last year. The four alumni are Sippy Das (BA English and Environmental Studies), Tshering Denkar (BA Sociology and Political Science), Tashi Choden (BA English and Environmental Studies) and Rujita Giri (BA Economics and Environmental Studies).

To start with, all of them were worried about how they would manage working in a foreign country with the language barrier and cultural differences. But, now they are in love with Thailand-Finding the Thai people to be friendly, welcoming and hard working. They love their profession and find teaching to be a fun learning experience, and they are grateful for this opportunity. Besides teaching at Bungphra Commercial College, Tshering is often invited to the National Army Force Center and the province’s prison to teach English.

Although all four are happy in Thailand, they miss home but stay in touch through social networks. Tshering added that she would like to tell to her friends at RTC to “work hard, as working hard is the only way you can make your dreams come true”.
