Tshering Choden - Assistant International Relations Officer, Royal Thimphu College

Kuzuzangpola!

I graduated from RTC, the only A+ Accredited College in Bhutan in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications. RTC will always have a special place in my heart, as we were the first batch of students to be enrolled and have graduated from the only private college in Bhutan at the time.

I joined the Tourism Council of Bhutan as soon as I graduated, under the Corporate Planning Division to assist the Council for the National Tourism Satellite Account Project for a year. After the TSA project with TCB, I was part of HRH Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuk's legal institute project ''Zhidey Tsawa'', which was a television series of sensitizing the public of legal procedures, terms, and its processes. I worked as the script supervisor for the legal series for another 1 year. After ''Zhidey Tsawa'', I joined NIIT, also known as Chhiphen Rigphel, which was funded by the Indian Government, and served as an IT Faculty in Shaba Middle Secondary School, Paro for 9 months, after which I decided to go for my Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management in Salzburg, Austria.

When I got back to Bhutan with my diploma from Austria, I saw a vacancy notice for the post of Assistant International Relations Officer with RTC. At first I was doubtful if I could get the job, considering my degree in Computer Applications and the job requirement being in International Relations. Fortunately the BCA degree is very versatile, and my technical background led me through the series other jobs and experiences that eventually landed me this amazing position. Since then I have been a proud BCA@RTC alumnus serving as the Assistant International Relations Officer, and there could have been no better way to express the importance of RTC in my life than working and serving for its betterment.
